What is your motivation for doing research related to free-flowing rivers?

Rivers are extraordinary teachers! Flowing with a river allows us to grow in a fun and inspiring way. The dynamic water environment sharpens our senses and creates connection. When we explore wild rivers, we develop our ‘sense of self’ and our ‘sense of place’ in Earth. When rivers are destroyed by hydropower development, we lose access to these influential experiences that free flowing rivers provide. It is my vision to develop deep connections between people and our environment. Through this connection, we will be able to provide solutions to the current environmental crisis that threaten our Mother Earth.
