What is your motivation for doing research related to free-flowing rivers?

Growing up on the banks of the Soča, one of the prettiest world’s river, made me realise how much we depend on the river, either direct or indirect way. The rivers shape our landscape and are truly remarkable veins of the planet. I would like to contribute to keeping the free flowing rivers as they are and fight for those who are already lost.

Why should we defend these wild rivers?

The problem is, we are so anthropocentric and we do not realise we are just guests on this planet, so in order to survive, we should cooperate with the planet, not exploit it. There is a science behind dams and it is not in dam’s favour, our goal is to open people’s eyes and show them that ”green” is not always the best solution.
