What is your motivation for doing research related to free-flowing rivers?
Wild rivers are part of a fascinating aquatic system, and their ecological funtionality is vital to plants, humans, or animals. However, hydraulic infrastructures can become a threat to those unique systems. Doing research on wild rivers also means finding a solution to these problems.
Why should we defend these wild rivers?
Rivers have so much more value than just being a source of electricity. During my stay in the Vjosa Valley, I met a lot of beautiful people that love their river and their Valley because it is part of their lives and livelihoods. Helping to defend the rivers means to help people who really care about their river and who will settle for nothing less than a wild river.
