Vera Knook

Searching for clean lines and clean rivers. Vera joined the first Balkan Rivers Tour for the kayaking action on Albanias’s Vjosa River. She jumped on board with the Balkan River Defence team in late 2017 using her fresh degree in hydraulic engineering to get universities from all over Europe involved in research and fight for rivers.

This developed into the idea of physically gathering students from the Balkans and the rest of Europe; the Students for Rivers Camp which became the start of the River Intellectuals Network.

Her big passion is kayaking, which allowed her to discover rivers around the world. Through this, she knows what is at stake. This passion lies at the base of her actions.

Vera loves to think big and is proud to work with a team that turns ideas into reality.

As a hydraulic engineer she is excited to explore the possibilities of river restoration projects.
